Mine occurred a long, long time ago. A college professor pointed out to a class which was about Professional ethics that
"No one can pay you what you are worth. You'll need to decide what value you place on yourself for the task at hand."
This doesn't mean to say that you wouldn't just go ahead and do something if the spirit moved you... simply it means that you should not look to the amount of money you make as your sole indication of the value you have as a human being contributing to the greater good.
