What's the best color?

Alison's Contribution:

Way back when PC networks were just a new thing, the consideration was given to causing the least strain on the eyes. I recall that an light orange on a light navy blue was the winning combination to avoid eyestrain.

However, the ubiquitous solution has been to make the screen look just like a piece of paper.

My suggestion is to use all the colour of the rainbow, just use some inspiration on how to use them best... Use deBono's thinking hats to guide you and you won't go too far wrong.

Just use the colour with purpose and intent to aid comprehension.

Come back to me if you have any questions or would like help.

All the best,

Alison
Clarification added 3 days ago:
It goes without saying that you should avoid colour coding where it would cause confusion for those who are colour blind, or have AMD, or causing the text to blur with the background.

In the UK, you need to follow the accessibility rules.
