Can language software replace classroom learning?

Alison's Contribution:

I would say that best results are a combination of individual learning and practice in real life situations. By all means, study at home, use accelerated learning techniques, internalise vocabulary and grammar rules, read, listen to podcasts, practice and record with on screen feedback.

To learn how to improvise, you need to play with others.

Classrooms are one way to bring people with an interest together. Another way is to find out a xxx speaker and only converse in their language.

I recommend Michel Thomas and Accelerated Learning as some of the best tools I've found. I have not tried Rosetta Stone. about.com also has great resources.

All the best,

Alison
