Only someone who knows both an email address registered to you on this site and your password can alter your profile.

Many people use the same or similar passwords for web sites they use frequently. Because I'm concerned about fraud and identify theft, I always use a substantially different one for LinkedIn.

If you are worried about your email account security, I suggest setting up a completely new email account which you use solely for LinkedIn.
