We have a group that we invited people to join and it won't let us invite over 5000 people. We have tons of people that want to join but why won't it

There are groups with over 5,000 members.

Perhaps it is just the invite function which has a limit. Rather than start all over again, use other tactics to build demand so that individual can find you and ask to join.

Another solution is to write to customer service and ask (politely) if you can have an additional number of invitations to be used solely on a need to basis.
