Have you ever noticed that questions intended solely to provoke critical thought (rhetorical questions) almost always get a response while questions f

Just a thought, perhaps it is the way the question is being asked which might account for the response (or lack thereof) which you receive.

By that, I mean all of the below:
- state of mind of both parties when the question is being asked
- the exact words being used
- the pitch and speed of your voice as you say the words
- the non verbal queues both parties are sending each other
- what you do immediately before and after you ask the question

I know a number of techniques which help elicit better responses to questions...

I'm happy to explore further.
