I think we're all searching, seeking something better than we have today.
Two inputs:
- They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery.
- Vincent Lombardi espoused that "Perfect Practice Makes Perfect".
These two examples to me are
a) working towards a common goal (united in purpose)
b) using shared behaviours to achieve the best results
Whether or not you call it "leadership", modelling your behaviours on those used who seem to be getting the best results is one technique to achieve great results.
It's not about making a one track mind. Rather it is about harnessing the creative intellect, energy and enthusiasm to contribute unique skills so that the whole is more than something less than the sum of the individual parts.
How to change the way people think? You might be surprised at how easy this is to do, once you have equipped them to analyse their own thinking - they can then learn to understand the thinking patterns of others.
If you can change the "group think" you can reduce misunderstandings and frustrations, you'll get better contributions which in turn inspire energy and commitment, which of course will lead to great things.
Hope this helps add some food for thought,
Alison
