I'm with Chris on this one. The only alternative ending I can think of is that Company A decides to hire you and feel no obligation to remunerate B&C for their work.
From my stand point, I ALWAYS ask candidates if they have been in contact with client organisations and whether they want to be represented by us. If you then decide to play off the client by being submitted by two agencies, at least then I'll have a time stamp of your commitment.
