How do recruiters get paid?

Alison's Contribution:

I believe he following is what you're looking for. In Contingency recruitment - if the company hires, a fee gets paid. For Permanent staff, it is usually either a fixed rate or a % of first year salary and monetised benefits.

For Contract Staff, some firms have a policy that they will only pay a set %on top of the amount paid to the contractor. However, I believe most companies specify a day rate range and the recruiter takes home the difference between the two they can negotiate.

Hope this helps to explain what you have observed.

All the best,

Alison
