Would you give away your valuable knowledge without charging?

I hope this doesn't get lost in translation and protecting those who need to remain nameless. 

There was a firm with two divisions - I'll use "A" and "B". 

Division A "gave away" services/expertise Division B supplied. 

Division B "gave away" services/expertise Division A supplied. 

Why? Because for Division A's "How" was the "What" for Division B and vice versa.
