I tend to provide responses rather than pose questions. I see as part of an altrustic nature, but others might read hidden motives ;-)
Some motives are hidden, some are visible... The great thing about LinkedIn is that you can participate on the levels you choose!
As I've said elsewhere, I think think the "Answers" is a huge hit for LinkedIn's motive to engage it community.
For others, it's a great way of getting some free publicity, raising awareness/profile, etc.
For many, I suspect it's a great way of getting some useful information for the question they posed rather than a conspriacy. However, I haven't read the privacy agreement lately...
