Ideas on fundraising activities with schools?

Alison's Contribution:

We've had some success with the following:

A pamper evening in the fall - combined with stall to sell Christmas oriented things (also used to get Year 7 Mums on board)
Salsa in the winter/spring
A caleigh in the spring/summer
Quiz Nights

How do we make the money?
Advertising in programmes
For the pamper evening, charging practitioners for the placement
Licence - we generally get a licence so we can sell wine and beer.
Sponsorship - we also target local business to contribute.

An often over looked way of increasing the funding is that some firms will match what has been raised by other mechanisms - which doubles the amount.

The only things the kids at my son school like is non-uniform day (£1/kid). That goes to the charities the chaplain supports or the students elect.

Teacher reception/participation - we're happy to get the stalwarts attending the events. We've given up on sending flyers home - most never even get handed out. They just started a new thing of collecting email addresses from every parent, so perhaps that will be more effective.

Advertising: local business's windows, local church programmes, community newsletters, getting estate agents to put up signs, a banner on the school fence on a busy main road.

All the best,

Alison
